Deer Park FFA was excited to have a horse judging team representing us this year! The team put in a great performance, scoring six classes and presenting two sets of oral reasons. This young team placed 20th out of 35 teams and is already setting goals for next year.
We are proud of all our students' hard work and dedication to the program this year and excited to see what will come next year!

FFA horticulture students have been busy learning how to germinate plants, maintain records, care for various species, and develop marketing strategies in preparation for our annual spring plant sale. A major highlight was seeing our high school students host over 40 preschool students! Our members taught them how to transplant a flower, which each preschooler was then able to take home. Before heading back to their classroom, the kids took a tour of the greenhouse to learn about the different flowers and vegetables growing inside. It was a wonderful day of mentorship and learning!

Deer Park FFA is in full swing this spring! Between traveling for competitions, sharpening skills at leadership events, and putting in hours at the greenhouse, our members have been staying incredibly busy.
A highlight from March was the State Trapshooting competition in East Wenatchee; in a field of 63 teams from across the state, Deer Park put on a fantastic showing and placed in the top 20. More FFA highlights are to come!

Earlier this month, our FFA students competed in the annual Spokane Junior Livestock Show. It was a fantastic success with many students placing in both fitting and showmanship. Some major highlights for Deer Park included earning Reserve Grand Champion in Freshman/Sophomore Fitting and Showing, Reserve Grand Champion in Prospect Lambs, and Reserve Grand Champion in Carcass Swine. Additionally, our State Livestock Judging team put in an incredible performance, placing 10th overall against a competitive field of 48 other teams. What an awesome experience for these hard-working students!

He plans to continue his musical pursuits at Whitworth University next year on alto saxophone and French horn.

Strong Schools Build Strong Communities! DPHS DECA invited the community and business owners to learn about the businesses led and run by DECA students. Mayor Verzal, three City Council members, several business owners, and community members visited the high school to learn more. Student businesses include a Jitter-Bucks (coffee), Stag Prints (stag.prints@dpsdmail.org), DP custumz (manufacturing), Stag Box (Stag Merchandise), Very Vendy (vending services). Did you know that by using the student-run businesses, the proceeds directly support the students? This enables the students to continue to compete at the state, national, and international levels and represent Deer Park across the world. Our students are preparing for college, career, and life!

Deer Park High School DECA is having a successful year of growth and service. Between managing five student stores, concessions, and leading community initiatives like Night at the North Pole, our 46 members have demonstrated exceptional leadership. A major highlight was meeting with Mayor Verzal to officially declare November as DECA Month for the city of Deer Park!
Our competitive success continues with 27 State qualifiers and 9 students advancing to the International competition in Atlanta this April. Additionally, 25 students gained professional hospitality and sports marketing experience through partnerships that included the Spokane Chiefs and Davenport Grand.
Local leaders and business owners are invited to our Community Business Tour on April 16 to see our operations in action.
Thank you for all the support from our parents and community!

How do we ensure ALL DPSD students are ready and successful for college, career, and life? 🎓Educators, leaders, community members, and even a recent graduate came together to answer that exact question.

Using community feedback, research, and our district’s strategic priorities, this team worked collaboratively to define the skills and characteristics our students need to be ready for their future.

We want all DPSD students to be:
- Confident, independent, and self-reliant
- Critical thinkers & problem solvers
- Personally and socially accountable
- Effective communicators
- Flexible and adaptable
- Contributing members to society and the community

We’re grateful for the voices, perspectives, and passion that made this work possible. This is how strong communities build strong future-ready students in Deer Park. 💙

Congratulations to our newest Rotary Student of the Month, Nevaeh Lee, a student known for sharing a friendly hello in the hallways and showing incredible growth and confidence throughout her high school years.

She is actively involved in ASB and the Drama Program, where she especially enjoys playing the funny roles on stage. She loves being part of the high school community and appreciates the supportive staff and leadership, including Principal Mr. Heuett.

After graduation, she plans to attend Gonzaga University and pursue her longtime dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys drama, theater, and watching shows.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Nevaeh! 👏
