Last spring, students, staff, families, and community members came together to identify the skills, mindsets, and characteristics we want every Deer Park student to develop as they prepare for life beyond our schools. At Deer Park Arcadia Elementary, classes have enjoyed a visit to what remains of the historic Arcadia Orchard next door. Before heading out, students watched a video from the Clayton Deer Park Historical Society explaining how the orchards were established in 1909 and what ultimately led to their failure by 1924. Students especially enjoyed learning that the remaining apple trees were once part of what was known as the world’s largest orchard!

The Deer Park School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Caleb Krantz to the School Board. The Board is excited to welcome him to the Board and appreciates his willingness to continue serving our students, staff, families, and the Deer Park community.
Caleb Krantz is a local parent and engineer with a history of involvement within the District since moving to the community in 2010. His daughter graduated in 2023, and his son is a senior at the high school this year. Caleb has served as a CTE advisor and a member of the Facilities Advisory Committee for over 10 years. He has been an active supporter of multiple booster clubs and also a member and president of the Committee to Support Deer Park Schools.
Krantz will officially take the oath of office and be sworn in at the August 24, 2026, School Board meeting. We look forward to having him join the Board and contribute to the important work of supporting our schools and students.

The Deer Park School District Board of Directors is seeking to fill an open position. Residents of the school district may apply to fill the unexpired term ending December 2027. Applicants interested in serving must reside in the Deer Park School District #414. The Deer Park School District map is available on the website: www.dpsd.org.
The vacancy on the five-member board will be filled through an application and selection process per Washington State Law. The remaining School Board members will review materials and will conduct an interview with the applicants in an open public meeting. All citizens are invited to nominate candidates for the position, provided that the nominees will be eligible registered voters who reside in the Director district. Our students at the Arcaida had a fabulous Field Day yesterday to celebrate the last full day of school. The rain didn't stop this annual tradition, and students embraced the weather with smiles and enthusiasm. The day included snow cones, track events, and activity stations that kept everyone moving and having fun. A huge thank you goes out to the staff, volunteers, and organizers who helped make the day such a success. Even with a little rain, it was a fantastic day at Arcadia.

Deer Park fourth graders enjoyed a walking field trip to the fire station! This community partnership has become a cherished annual tradition that fourth-grade teachers and students look forward to each year. Along the way, local community members honked and waved at the students, making the walk even more memorable.
At the fire station, students rotated through a variety of hands-on learning stations led by firefighters. This year, they even had the opportunity to tour both an ambulance and a fire truck. After a fun and educational morning, students enjoyed pizza generously donated by our amazing PTCA and shared lunch together at Perrin’s Field.

The weather was perfect for families to enjoy the end-of-the-year family picnic at Arcadia Elementary! Many thanks to all who were able to join the students and staff. What fun!
The first-ever Arcadia Cornhole Club was hosted today! Twenty 5th graders got to participate, and they finished with a final championship match. The winning team took home a set of some super fun cornhole bags. What a blast! We love to see kids having fun and learning great sportsmanship by cheering on their classmates.

Our Arcadia 4th and 5th grade teams competed in the Math is Cool Masters competition this weekend! They did a fantastic job and had a great experience doing it. We are so proud of these students for taking on the challenge and representing Deer Park. Way to go!

After a week of testing, our 5th graders at Arcadia got the chance to spend some time outside in the grass, relaxing after putting so much hard work and focus into their tests this last week. We are so proud of their dedication and effort!

May is state testing month! How can we ensure our students are relaxed and ready? Mr. Seagreaves and Mrs. Siwinski classes wrote letters to Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Didier’s 3rd graders, who have been their reading buddies all year. The letters included state test tips and advice for the 3rd graders first-time taking the state test next week. To all DPSD students - you've got this!
