Deer Park Middle School was proudly represented by our 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Math is Cool teams on February 7th, at the Regional Math is Cool competition at Mead High School. As always our MIC students represented their school very well. In true fashion, our students showed great enthusiasm and exceptional school spirit, while maintaining good sportsmanship with their fellow competitors. In fact, the 8th Grade MIC Kettle Falls team cheered on our Deer Park 8th team during the college bowl competition with make-shift banners!
Our 6th grade team did not place as a team but EllaLee White took 6th place overall. Our 7th Grade MIC team also fell short of earning a team placing but rocked college bowl and individually, Addy Simonson took 1st, Ray Harper earned 3rd place, and Samantha Cosner placed 7th. Our 8th Grade MIC team did extremely well, placing 3rd place, with Camden Rich leading the way. The 7th and 8th Grade MIC teams will represent DPMS to Masters (State) at Moses Lake High School on Saturday, 26 April.

DPHS Archery students have been shooting every Monday and Friday morning before school since mid-September. The students competed in Kennewick two weekends ago for the State competition and finished 3rd overall in the high school division. We are proud of our Stags!

The Deer Park High School Knowledge Bowl Team wrapped up their season at the ESD101 Regional Competition hosted by East Valley High School on February 21st. As a division 2A team, the Stags had to vie with 7 other schools in our region - including 1A schools (which were combined with 2A) - for one of two allocations at the State Competition in Wenatchee. Although the Stags fell short, they competed with zest and determination. Most importantly, all experienced the exclusive bond of working as a team to proudly represent their school.
There were 5 rounds in the preliminary competition. Like 3-round regulation season play, these rounds consist of 50 trivia questions. Three separate schools are matched-up per round, and the 1st place winner is determined by the most correct responses.
To prepare for the culminating meet at East Valley, the Stags competed five other times at area schools this season. With consistent practices, the Deer Park Stags Knowledge Bowl Team continues to improve and strives to earn a spot at State in the future. Go Stags!

Good luck to our wrestling team, currently at State in Tacoma! Join our Lady Stags (v. Selah) on Saturday, February 22 at 4:00 pm @ DPHS for the District 5/6 Championship. No GSL passes.

Lady Stags are undefeated this season and take the 2A GSL Championship! Way to go Stags!

Deer Park School Board of Directors, Eric Keller, Lindsay Lofstrom, and Superintendent Dr. Allman engaged in legislative advocacy in Olympia. During this time, they met with legislators, including our own Representative Andrew Engell, from around the state to express concerns about the MSOC funding gap for Deer Park School District, requested to reduce or eliminate educational mandates, and requested legislators give School Boards local control. Dr. Allman gave a testimony expressing concerns about the state's inadequate staffing ratios and allocations. They even met with the governor's assistant and were the first educational constituents to meet with her.

Friendly reminder: No School on February 14 and 17!

Congratulations to our Deer Park Rotary Student of the Month for February, Senior RJ Gillaspy. RJ is an outstanding student at Deer Park High School, holding strong at a cumulative high school G.P.A. of 3.8. He is involved in pretty much every activity offered at DPHS. RJ is always willing to lend a hand when needed, and he brings great positive energy to the student body. RJ is a leader who has held a variety of class officer positions throughout his high school career. He has been a Varsity Baseball player since his Sophomore year, and he has aspirations to continue his playing career at the collegiate level. Well deserved RJ, thanks for making Deer Park High School a better place with all that you have been a part of!

Congratulations to the Stag Wrestling team! They took home the Battle of the Horns for the 7th consecutive year on senior night. The boys are also 2025 2A Greater Spokane League Champions. Way to go!

Congratulations to Savannah Nail, DPHS senior! Her art, "Worlds Apart" is representing Deer Park High School in the NWESD 101 Regional Art Show.
Deer Park Schools values the arts & appreciates our community's support of the arts through the local levy as well. It helps ensure all students have a way to engage, find their gifts and talents, and belong to our schools!
