DPMS 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade MIC teams competed at MIC Masters (State) at Moses Lake High School on April 27th. The students performed fabulously! State competition was fierce, and there were an unprecedented number of "ties" at all grade levels. Parents, family, fellow students, and DPMS faculty, would have been very proud to witness how our MIC students maintained a positive attitude and portrayed positive sportsmanship. To our MIC students: your MIC coaches and volunteers have enjoyed being there to mentor you and sharpen your math skills, and we look forward to the next MIC season.
6th: Carson Hanlin, Landen Link, Samantha Cosner, Addy Simonson, Coach Shawna Cosner, Harper Ray

DPSD welding student, Logan Reynolds, saved the District a lot $ using his welding skills! The generator's part (over 30 years old) was obsolete and could not be replaced. Many thanks to Logan who lead this project, recreated the complicated tank, and repaired the generator! Logan has been a two-year finalist at our State SkillsUSA welding contest and placed fourth at Tacoma last April. TIG welding is an advanced welding procedure that takes many months of practice to become proficient. Way to go Logan!

To put the competition into perspective, there are 23,000+ students in attendance at this conference! Stay tuned for updates to come!

The Deer Park Trap Shooting team is required to be a current/active FFA member, have their hunter's safety certification, go through safety training, attend practices each weekend during the school year, and compete in four competitions to qualify for state. A regular weekend competition consists of the individuals each shooting 50 Birds (Clay Targets) 25 at 16 yards and 25 at 22 yards (handicap). On April 19th - 20th The State Trapshooting FFA Invitational is held each year; the teams consist of 3 to 5 members and the TOP 4 scores count towards the overall score. Each team member shoots 50 Birds in Regs at 16 yards and 50 at 22 yards (handicap) for a total of 100 rounds. Great job Deer Park!
