2019 State Cross-Country Championships

On Saturday, November 9th, Deer Park High School’s girls cross-country team wrapped-up another fantastic season by completing what had previously been so very elusive – a STATE TITLE! The girls cross-country program has experienced a great deal of individual and team success in recent years, finishing 3rd in 2015 and then 2nd in 2016, but had yet to hoist the “big trophy” at the state championships. This year the girls brought home the team title! In a quick check of historical results, this is not just the first team title for our girls cross-country program, it is the first team title ever for any of Deer Park’s girls athletics programs! So exciting for Deer Park High School and for the cross-country program.

The setting for the event was the traditional State Cross-Country venue, Sun Willows Golf Course, in Pasco,WA. Our Lady Stag runners produced a true team win with Deer Park’s first 5 runners all crossing the finish line in the top 50 and within one minute of each other! The top 5 spread of 55 seconds was almost two minutes better than runner-up Lakeside (Nine Mile). Running at the state championships were:  Adele Schick, Layne Lathrop, Andrea Loos, Marion George, Savannah Story, Ali Dodgen, and Makenzie Bates. Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Ken Mulvania and all the girls who contributed to this great accomplishment.
